An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated professional to join the School of Applied Sciences as Academic Administration Manager on a 12-month fixed term basis.

As a key member of the School Leadership Team, you will manage the delivery of academic administration services across the full student lifecycle, ensuring high-quality support for students and academic colleagues while maintaining compliance with University regulations and external requirements. Working closely with academic leaders, central professional services teams and course administration colleagues, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the School’s operational effectiveness and student experience.

This opportunity comes at a particularly important time for the University. The successful candidate will help provide continuity and leadership as the institution progresses its transition to a two-College structure and develops future professional services operating models. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to organisational change while ensuring that core academic administration services continue to operate effectively and compliantly.

About The Role

The Academic Administration Manager leads a team of Course Administrators and is responsible for the delivery of academic administration services that support students and staff from enrolment through to graduation.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading academic administration across the full student lifecycle.
  • Providing oversight of assessment administration, marks processing and examination boards.
  • Ensuring compliance with University regulations and external requirements, including student engagement monitoring and visa-related attendance processes.
  • Managing student records, curriculum information and assessment data.
  • Leading and developing a team of Course Administration staff.
  • Acting as a key liaison between academic staff, students and specialist University services.
  • Supporting accreditation activity, audits, inspections and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Academic Registry and Professional Services to drive service improvement and consistency of practice.
  • Contributing to School leadership discussions and supporting operational planning and decision-making.

About You, You Will Bring

  • Experience of academic administration within higher education or a similarly complex regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of the student lifecycle and associated regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience of managing complex administrative processes and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Experience of working collaboratively across teams to improve services and solve problems.
  • The ability to interpret regulations and policies and apply them effectively in practice.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent service for students and staff.
