URGENT: Litigation Lawyer – Local Government
Location: London
Rate: £379.02 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 12+ Weeks (Initial) – 3 days in the office & 2 WFH

The Opportunity
An urgent requirement has arisen for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join a busy legal team within a London-based local authority on an initial 12-week contract.
The successful candidate will manage a varied litigation caseload and provide high-quality legal advice across a range of contentious matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with local government experience who can quickly integrate into an established team and handle files with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of litigation matters from inception through to conclusion.
- Providing legal advice to officers, managers and key stakeholders.
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate or instructing and managing external counsel.
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements and legal correspondence.
- Representing the organisation in negotiations and court proceedings.
- Ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and in accordance with court deadlines.
Areas of Litigation May Include
- Civil litigation
- Judicial review and public law challenges
- Housing litigation
- Anti-social behaviour injunctions
- Debt recovery and enforcement proceedings
- General local government litigation matters
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEX.
- Significant experience handling litigation matters.
- Previous local authority or public sector legal experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Available to start at short notice.
- Immediate interviews available
