Within this role, the Electrical Maintenance Technician will be working 4 on, 6 off. This shift pattern includes 2 day shifts (5am‑5pm) and 2 night shifts (5pm‑5am) followed by 6 days off.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide electrical expertise on shift to maximise plant availability through effective preventative maintenance and a quick reactive response to breakdowns.
- Support the manufacturing team by providing a good service that includes assisting with breakdowns, quality issues, technical improvements, and the daily operations of the production plant.
- Assist the Shift Manager and Shift Fitter when required while ensuring all data is accurately recorded in SAP and a clear shift handover is provided.
Duties Include
- Follow company Health and Safety procedures to ensure personal and others’ safety.
- Demonstrate appropriate levels of technical competence, assess and mitigate risks, and implement safeguards when undertaking maintenance or intervention activities.
- Execute efficient and effective reactive maintenance to process interruptions or abnormalities, and engage with the shift operational team as needed.
- Uphold planned preventative maintenance and improvement activities according to the work schedule.
- Develop own process knowledge and technical expertise in designated manufacturing processes, contributing to standardisation, optimisation, improvement, and diagnostics initiatives.
- Ensure all work is performed to a high technical and professional standard, including supervising the work of others where necessary.
- Record all activity and observations in the SAP CMMS with sufficient technical detail to support later analyses.
- Provide an active contribution to the engineering department, supporting and covering colleagues where required.
What We’d Love For You To Have
- Awareness of current workplace health and safety legislation.
- Knowledge of machine safety systems.
- Certified competence in a primary discipline: latest edition IEE wiring regulations, instrument technology skills, isolations, PLC skills.
- Cross‑training to minimum basic competence in the secondary discipline.
- Experience working with automated plant and equipment.
- Developed knowledge of manufacturing process plant, utilities and infrastructure throughout the factory.
- Process competencies to develop technical expertise.
- Motivated, able to work without supervision, and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Articulate, literate and numerate with good communication skills.
- Well‑developed IT skills including MS Office; SAP skills are an advantage.
