Logistics Operations Manager – Derby
Full Time 37 hours per week. We have an excellent opportunity for a Logistics Operations Manager to join the team on a permanent basis in Derby.
Reporting to the Head of Logistics, this role will be responsible for leading and developing logistics operations to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of services in Large Engines Assembly & Test. This role is responsible for leading the Shop Control and SSO team in the LSC as the primary interface between Logistics and Assembly & Test operations. This role will require strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work cross-functionally and the professional credibility to influence at all levels. The team are responsible for controlling the supply of parts from the Materials Management Centre to Assembly & Test deploying Just-in-Time principles and a zero defect culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Put Safety First, playing a lead role in LSC risk reduction and supporting the RP structure
- Primary interface between the MMC and Assembly and Test operations
- Using the data captured in the disruption app, produce weekly and monthly KPI’s and provide operational insight to help drive continuous improvements in the Large Engines logistic operation
- Support daily escalation meetings and be the primary contact point for the part disruptions
- Attend daily walk rounds to understand customer requirements and work to mitigate any potential hazards to delivery collaborating with production leaders, planning and logistics
- Support the weekly lock-down planning meetings and highlight potential risks to the plan
- Ensure all part delivery risks that have potential to impact delivery are identified, prioritised and escalated, where appropriate within the wider organisation
- Ensure appropriate, standard physical logistics solutions are deployed and adhered to
- Develop team capability in Lean tools and behaviours
Key Competencies & Experiences Required for the Role
- Demonstrated experience leading Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong financial and cost management awareness
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong planning background; experience in managing projects and applying programme management methodology
- Strong analysis skills
- Knowledge / understanding of OE Engine Build Sequencing
- Demonstrated ability to deliver under challenging circumstances
- Knowledge of and working experience with MRP systems
