Legal Counsel – Commercial Lawyer – Assistant Director (Permanent) – London

Overview

Join EY’s UK Legal Team as an in‑house Commercial Counsel. You will support the entire UK business across a range of sectors, providing pragmatic, business‑focused legal advice to enable our services and protect the firm’s interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on, drafting and negotiating contracts, including:
    • Master Services Agreements and Global Framework Agreements with clients;
    • Complex commercial contracts (e.g., AI related, managed services, outsourcing, subcontracts, collaboration agreements, software and licensing, government & public sector agreements);
    • Supplier contracts;
    • Tender and RFP responses;
    • Technology‑related advice, including GenAI usage and provision of technology services.
  • Providing legal advice to the firm’s service lines and internal support functions (real estate, facilities, procurement, finance, talent, IT, knowledge and marketing).
  • Serving as legal lead on firm‑wide projects.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of post‑qualification experience, including in‑house experience.
  • Capacity to provide practical, high‑degree‑of‑professionalism legal advice in a fast‑paced environment and to establish credibility at all levels.
  • Self‑starter who responds promptly to deadlines and builds trust‑based relationships.
  • Preferred: experience advising on GenAI usage in service provision or using GenAI for legal service delivery.
  • Preferred: experience in data privacy matters (but not essential).
