Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy and dynamic Radiology team. We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to play a key role in supporting the delivery of an efficient and high-quality radiology reporting service. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with radiologists, reporting clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the timely management and allocation of radiology examinations and reports.

The post holder is responsible for the daily monitoring, allocation, and management of Radiology reports and examinations, ensuring that reports are acquired, processed, and completed within agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

The role requires proactive monitoring of reporting workflows, taking appropriate action where delays or issues are identified, and liaising effectively with clinical teams to facilitate the timely completion of reports. The post holder will manage their own workload independently, prioritising tasks to maintain service standards and operational efficiency.

The post holder will be accountable for identifying and escalating any risks to KPI performance in a timely manner. Failure to elevate breaches or potential breaches of KPIs to the Directorate Manager may result in direct accountability for any unmet targets.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for ensuring daily that reporting requirements are achieved, reallocating workloads to meet fluctuations in demand due to sickness absence, holidays.
  • To be responsible for monitoring all diagnostic reporting folders daily and ensuring that reports are completed within internal standards, reallocating where required to ensure adherence to standards.
  • To be responsible for analysing reporting waiting times, to be able to identify potential areas of concern in advance and take appropriate action to resolve or elevate.
  • To be responsible for liaising and communicating with external providers to manage agreed processes for transfer of sensitive confidential information for reporting purposes and to ensure that reports are managed and received timely to adhere to internal standards.
  • To monitor and manage work allocation to ADD folders, ensuring all allocations are completed within KPI or taking responsibility to re-allocate to ensure standards achieved.
  • To take responsibility in communicating and alerting Radiologists and reporting radiographers to any urgent examinations requiring urgent action.
  • Attend and contribute staff meetings and project team meetings.

Education

  • A Level qualifications at grade A-C or equivalent qualifications OR evidence of equivalent relevant training and experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or diploma in administration or healthcare sciences or equivalent experience

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of National NHS targets including: oDiagnostic oRTT oCancer
  • Ability to build and develop good working relationships across a range of services and organisations.
  • Ability to influence/persuade others with a positive approach and respect for work colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a complex workload.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and prepare written reports, exercising judgement on data requiring escalation.

Experience

  • Experience of monitoring and managing waiting lists, waiting times and targets.
  • Experience of analysing sensitive data.
