Overview

Role focused on leading statutory consultation processes for major works and managing leaseholder engagement, ensuring full legal compliance and cost recovery. Key duty is to resolve disputes efficiently and fairly within a high‑performing, customer‑focused property service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all statutory consultation processes relating to major works, ensuring full compliance with legislation.
  • Prepare and manage the issue of statutory notices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to required timelines.
  • Engage with leaseholders, providing clear guidance on works, costs and payment options.
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants and internal teams to ensure works are fully recoverable and communicated effectively.
  • Carry out site visits to verify works and support the preparation of consultation notices.
  • Maintain accurate records of consultation activity and leaseholder recharges.
  • Calculate and issue major works invoices with clear supporting breakdowns.
  • Handle disputes and complaints, working toward early resolution wherever possible.
  • Prepare cases for County Court or Tribunal proceedings when required and attend hearings where necessary.
  • Support delivery of service targets while maintaining high standards of customer service, health and safety, and safeguarding.

Applicant Essentials

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 in relation to service charge consultation.
  • Understanding of the Housing Act 1985 and subsequent amendments.
  • Experience managing statutory consultation processes for major works.
  • Ability to interpret leases and apply them in practice.
  • Experience handling disputes and preparing cases for legal proceedings.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with leaseholders and contractors.
  • Experience working across teams to deliver effective outcomes.

Desirable

  • Understanding of building contracts and payment application processes.
  • Experience working within a social housing provider environment.
