Health & Safety OfficerLocation: South Wales (Home, Office and Field Based)Pay Rate: £17.54 per hourHours: 37 hours per week, Monday to FridayAssignment: Temporary until 31st March 2027

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join our client based in South Wales on a temporary contract until 31st March 2027.

This is a varied role offering a combination of home working, office based duties and regular travel to operational sites across South Wales. A large part of the position involves visiting teams working in outdoor environments, including riverbanks and other field locations, carrying out health and safety inspections, identifying potential risks and reporting your findings back to management to help maintain the highest safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong health and safety background who enjoys working both independently and alongside operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections and audits across operational locations throughout South Wales
  • Monitor working practices to ensure health and safety procedures are being followed
  • Identify hazards and recommend improvements to minimise risk
  • Review and update health and safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and supporting documentation
  • Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to managers and operational staff
  • Support the investigation of incidents and assist with implementing corrective actions where required
  • Produce accurate reports following site visits and communicate findings to management
  • Help promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is kept up to date

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety Officer or Health & Safety Advisor role
  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of current UK health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and reviewing risk assessments
  • Confident communicating with colleagues and managers at all levels
  • Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel throughout South Wales
  • Able to work independently while managing a varied workload
