Breastfeeding Support Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding promotion to prospective and new parents to increase the initiation and duration of breastfeeding for mothers for whom breastfeeding is preferred.
• Provide one‑to‑one support in the home setting, over the phone, and within Children’s Centres for parents who choose to breastfeed to encourage mothers to breastfeed for longer.
• Facilitate antenatal, postnatal, and ongoing support and health promotion.
• Contribute to the promotion of a positive breastfeeding culture by working with partner agencies to increase awareness with local groups.
• Carry out audits with parents around their chosen feeding method.
