Overview
University of the Arts London (UAL) is recruiting Facilities Assistants for the London College of Communication in Elephant and Castle. In the Estates Department, you will deliver customer‑focused facilities support and premises services to ensure a secure, well‑maintained and friendly environment for staff, students and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Daily premises audits and inspections
- Porterage duties and processing/sorting of all incoming and outgoing deliveries
- First‑line access control and security presence, ensuring safe access and egress for authorized staff, students, visitors and contractors
- Meeting and greeting visitors in a courteous and professional manner, handling inquiries and directing them to events as appropriate
- Undertaking First Aider duties and receiving certified training along with SIA licence training
Shift Pattern
- Week 1: 07:00 – 15:00
- Week 2: 07:00 – 15:00
- Week 3: 14:30 – 22:30
- Week 4: 14:30 – 22:30
- Includes one Saturday over the 3‑week cycle
Qualifications & Profile
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience working in a customer‑facing environment delivering services that include portering, security, goods deliveries/distribution throughout a multi‑story building, event support, and service operations. Ideally, the candidate will be a trained first‑aider with SIA accreditation, along with manual handling and ‘goods inward’ operations experience. Proficiency in IT programmes such as MS Office, email and estate management systems is required, along with the ability to convey information accurately and collaborate effectively with the team.
