You’ll work as part of a close-knit team to make sure all of our grounds and facilities are well‑maintained, safe, and secure to the highest standards.
Our buildings and outdoor areas are all working settings. You are self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and constantly seeking ways to grow. You will be responsible for all grounds maintenance and facility activities for various different sites. Many of these are designated as protected areas or sites of special scientific importance, giving you a wide variety of challenges.
You’ll have access to a work van and all necessary tools; all you need is a valid driver’s licence. Working hours are 37 per week: Monday‑Wednesday 07:00‑16:00, Thursday 07:00‑15:00, and Friday 07:00‑14:00. You must be willing to work outside in all seasons and weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake grounds and facility maintenance on a diverse range of company operational sites, land and property.
- Perform mowing of large grassed areas, storage reservoir embankments, strimming, blowing off, edge cutting, weeding, hedge cutting, minor tree work, fencing, gulley emptying, litter picking, gutter clearing, evasive/reportable weed control, and snow clearing.
- Ensure all cutting schedules are completed within defined timescales.
- Operate machinery in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
- Maintain machinery and equipment in a serviceable condition, complete all relevant check sheets in a timely manner, and prepare for inspections and auditing.
- Carry out all tasks with due consideration to Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, method statements, and company policy and procedures.
- Respect the environment and consider adjoining land or public safety during all activities.
- Provide basic facility maintenance such as decoration, temporary security repairs, emergency cover repairs, and any other work within the operative’s skill set and training level.
Requirements
- Self‑motivated, committed, and organised with excellent knowledge and use of grounds maintenance machinery.
- Experience with ride‑on mowers, bank mowers, strimmers, chippers, and all associated equipment.
- Basic DIY knowledge.
- Valid driving licence and experience towing a plant trailer.
- Fencing experience and chainsaw certification desirable.
- Experience using other grounds maintenance machinery (ride‑on mowers, pedestrian mowers, branch cutters, bank‑commanders) is a bonus.

Compensation
£25,000 to £30,330 per annum, dependent on experience.
