Salary and Working Hours

This role has a starting salary of £43,633 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. It is a full‑time position; part‑time applications will be considered.

Location and Working Mode

The occupational therapist will join the Connect to Community (C2C) West 1 Team based in Guildford. Work is hybrid, with a laptop and mobile phone provided and flexibility to manage your own diary. Clients may be seen in their own homes or residential settings.

About the Team

The C2C model re‑shapes how residents access adult social care by offering timely, strengths‑based, person‑centred support. The team includes occupational therapists and senior occupational therapists who conduct daily case reviews, rapid problem solving, urgent assessments, safeguarding, risk management, and short‑term interventions. Support is provided through reablement, housing advice and technology‑enabled care.

About the Role

Using a strengths‑based approach, you will work alongside adults with a range of needs, including elderly, frail, learning disabilities, physical or sensory impairments, and mental ill health, to support them in living meaningful lives within the community. The role involves frontline, holistic occupational therapy practice, completing assessments such as moving and handling risk assessments and providing interventions ranging from short‑term equipment provision to longer‑term support.

Qualifications and Skills

Shortlisting criteria include:

  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with HCPC
  • Experience within a social care, health, or community‑focused multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to complete person‑centred, proportionate OT assessments
  • Familiarity with moving and handling equipment (hoists, stand aids)
  • Knowledge of medical conditions’ impact on individuals, carers and families
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act)
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Surrey area

Other Requirements

You must be able to obtain an enhanced DBS check and children & adults barred list checks.

Local Government Reorganisation

Surrey County Council is undergoing reorganisation. If employed from 1 April 2027, your role will transfer to the new unitary council with unchanged terms.
