Role Title: Compliance & Safeguarding Caseworker
Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Location: Manchester (hybrid working available)
Working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours (occasional evening, weekends and possible attendance at cycling events)
Start Date: As soon as practicable
What will you be doing?
- Day to day case management of new and ongoing disciplinary and safeguarding concerns and cases. Acting as fact-finding/investigative officer for all reported concerns and coordinating the work of independent investigators where required;
- In conjunction with the Compliance Manager & Safeguarding Manger, make defensible decisions and advise on appropriate action in disciplinary and safeguarding cases;
- Provide support for Disciplinary Hearings, including bundle preparation, witness statement drafting and coordinating witnesses;
- Attendance at the British Cycling Safeguarding Case Management Group to present information and participate in group discussion as required;
- Escalate unresolved problems and adjust tasks as appropriate or directed by the Compliance and Safeguarding Managers to meet changing demands;
- Provide advice to and liaise with colleagues, members, volunteers and partner organisations on compliance matters, including disciplinary, anti-doping and safeguarding;
- Maintain accurate records, analyse data and produce regular reports in relation to Disciplinary and Safeguarding KPIs;
- Support the Compliance and Safeguarding Managers with Anti-Doping (with opportunity to develop, if desired) and limited Data Protection work from time to time and as required;
What we’re looking for (desired, not necessarily all essential):
- We welcome applications from (but not limited to) law graduates and candidates with experience in legal settings (such as paralegal or case handling roles), as well as those from statutory agencies, complaints handling or investigative backgrounds;
- Sufficient educational attainment to demonstrate ability to carry out the role to the required standard.
- Proven ability to operate in a fast paced environment, handling sensitive information and sometimes challenging and confrontational situations;
- Experience of working in a small team providing services to internal and external customers and also experience of working with volunteers;
- Knowledge of and an interest in disciplinary and/or sport safeguarding;
- Understanding of data protection and information sharing principles;
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines, with the ability to analyse and disseminate information;
- Competence in the use of IT tools including spreadsheets, databases, email and word processing;
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills and attention to detail, with excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive and supportive relationships with individuals, riders, parent, volunteers and staff at all levels;
- Highly motivated, positive, solution focussed attitude.
