Pricing Analyst – Ipswich

Pricing Analyst to join our Projects and Strategic Development Team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting pricing strategies and evaluating matter performance to drive profitability and operational efficiency across the firm.
This role focuses on analysing financial data, conducting post-matter evaluations, and providing actionable insights to support strategic pricing decisions. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, a commercial mindset, and experience working with financial data in a professional services environment.
- Analyse historical financial data, fee structures, and profitability metrics to support pricing decisions.
- Conduct post-matter performance analysis, evaluating actual vs. projected profitability, cost-efficiency, and resource utilisation.
- Identify trends in matter profitability and recommend improvements in pricing structures and operational efficiency.
- Provide divisional pricing committees and Partners with detailed financial reports, outlining insights from post-matter evaluations.
- Collaborate with finance and business development teams to develop pricing approaches based on performance outcomes.
- Utilise financial modelling tools to assess profitability and risk associated with pricing strategies.

- Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions (e.g. lookups, pivot tables) and basic financial modelling.
- Highly numerate, with the ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data, translating insights into clear, actionable recommendations on post-matter performance and profitability.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach to ensuring data accuracy and high-quality reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage, challenge, and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior decision-makers.
- Confident working with financial data, systems, and reporting tools, with the ability to clearly communicate insights to non-financial audiences.
- Proactive and eager to learn, with a strong interest in pricing, legal financial processes, and profitability analysis.
Desirable Skills
- Prior experience in pricing, financial analysis, revenue management, or a similar analytical role within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Understanding of legal industry pricing structures, profitability drivers, and financial evaluation metrics.
- Familiarity with finance systems, BI tools, or data analytics platforms.
- Experience working within a law firm (across finance, operations, or support functions).
- Qualified accountant (or working towards qualification), or an accountancy/finance background.
- Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related analytical discipline.
- Awareness of professional services finance processes and commercial drivers (training will be provided).
