What you will do
- Support the Team Manager in leading day‑to‑day operations of the Mental Health Team, including allocation and oversight of complex casework.
- Provide professional supervision, appraisal, and development support to social workers and support staff.
- Ensure delivery of statutory duties in accordance with the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act.
- Lead on safeguarding enquiries, ensuring risk is managed and appropriate protection plans are in place.
- Promote high standards of practice, quality assurance, and continuous service improvement through audit and performance monitoring.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW / CQSW).
- Registered with Social Work England.
Registration and Compliance
- Strong knowledge of Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Understanding of CQC standards and local authority statutory responsibilities.
- Awareness of Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act principles in practice.
Experience
- Significant post‑qualification experience in adult social care, ideally within mental health services.
- Experience supporting or supervising social workers and handling complex safeguarding cases.
- Proven experience working within a local authority or integrated community mental health team.
- Exposure to service development, transformation, or practice improvement initiatives.
