Your new company A well established food manufacturing business in the Newry area is seeking a Technical NPD Assistant to join the Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated food industry professional to gain exposure across both Technical and New Product Development activities within a fast paced manufacturing environment. Working alongside an experienced team, you will play a key role in supporting food safety, quality, compliance and product development initiatives.
Your new role As Technical NPD Assistant, you will support the Technical Manager and wider Technical team across a broad range of quality, food safety and NPD activities. Your responsibilities will include carrying out routine quality checks, verifying production records, conducting hygiene and fabrication audits, managing customer complaints and non-conformances, maintaining documentation and supporting supplier approval processes. You will also be involved in traceability exercises, sample preparation and submission for external analysis, specification and labelling activities, and preparation for customer and BRC audits. On the NPD side, you will assist with product trials, taste panels, shelf-life assessments and the documentation required to bring new products from concept through to launch. This is a varied role offering excellent exposure to both technical and product development functions within food manufacturing.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Third-level qualification in a food related discipline, ideally with exposure to the meat industry
- Experience working within a food manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality and compliance processes
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively
- A flexible, adaptable approach and willingness to learn and develop within a technical and NPD environment
