About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Support Accountant (Financial Management) – Band 7 to join the Finance team within a leading Health & Social Care organisation.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality financial management support to the Divisional Accountant, working closely with operational Directors, senior managers, clinicians, and budget holders to support effective financial control and continuous improvement across services.
This role will involve the preparation and analysis of financial information, supporting budget management processes, providing advice to budget holders, and assisting with the delivery of accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the Divisional Accountant in maintaining effective financial control across allocated Directorates
Producing regular and meaningful financial analysis reports to support budgetary management and decision-making
Assisting with monthly financial reporting, including commentary on financial position, activity, and workforce performance
Supporting budget setting processes, service developments, and financial costings
Providing analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of complex financial and non-financial information
Supporting budget managers with accurate financial information to manage resources effectively
Assisting with variance analysis, forecasting, and the identification of financial risks
Supporting the development of efficiency savings plans and financial improvement initiatives
Liaising with internal teams, commissioners, and audit colleagues as required
Deputising for the Divisional Accountant when required
Essential Criteria
Relevant experience within financial management/accounting
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information
Experience producing financial reports and supporting budget management
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Strong communication skills with the ability to work with managers and stakeholders at all levels
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
