Technical Author

Technical Author – Engineering Services – Cumbria – £40-50/hr (outside IR35)

I’m supporting a leading engineering business that is looking for an experienced Technical Author to support the delivery of major nuclear projects. This is an initial 6‑month contract with a strong likelihood of extension.

The role is centred around producing, reviewing and approving technical documentation to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest standard.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, reviewing and approving RAMS, Method Statements and Lifting Plans
• Reviewing FAT/SAT documentation
• Reviewing engineering calculations completed by others
• Ensuring documentation complies with LOLER, PUWER and CDM Regulations
• Working closely with engineering, project and site teams to support project delivery

Qualifications

• Strong experience producing and reviewing technical documentation within engineering or industrial projects
• Proven experience with RAMS, Method Statements and Lifting Plans
• Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and CDM
• A Mechanical, Civil, Structural or similar engineering background

You don’t need to carry out engineering calculations yourself, but you should be confident reviewing them. Likewise, HAZID/HAZOP experience isn’t essential.
