The purpose of this role is to be technically proficient in an Engineering profession and to deliver work packages on a delivery project.

This job role is based in London. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5 DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Undertakes routine daily activities and is accountable for system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components.
  2. Undertakes the implementation of new and enhanced network technology that aligns to customers’ strategic direction for enterprise and remote site connectivity.
  3. Maintains standards for global network infrastructure, including wireless, LAN and SD-WAN networks and connectivity.
  4. Manages the installation, testing, and setup of new network hardware both physical and virtual (firewalls, routers, switching, monitoring) hardware and software.
  5. Executes engineering efforts to ensure currency and supportability of networking technology.

Essential Skills / Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Have experience with and knowledge of enterprise and operator-scale routing design using protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, LDP or RSVP.
  • Know how to use and have experience with LAN switching in small- and medium-scale data centre and enterprise environments, maybe including experience with RSTP/MSTP, LAG, MC-LAG or SPB and first-hop resilience and security protocols.
  • Have experience with and knowledge of implementing network security – MACSEC/IPSEC/802.1x.
  • Have knowledge of network design for security, including Firewall / IDS / IPS experience, including management & configuration.

  • Contributes to formulation of BT Engineering strategy.
  • Creatively applies a wide range of technical and management principles.
  • Performs highly complex work activities covering technical, financial and quality aspects.
  • Develops relationships with senior customers.
