About the Role
The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) is seeking an exceptional and experienced professional to undertake the role of Senior Financial Investigation Manager (SFIM), leading the strategic and operational delivery of financial investigation and asset recovery across the region. This pivotal leadership position supports multiple forces and partner agencies to disrupt and dismantle serious and organised crime, maximise asset recovery, and maintain a consistent, ethical, high‑performing service.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership to a specialist team of financial investigators (Proceeds of Crime Unit), ensuring best practice in financial investigation, confiscation and enforcement activity.
- Work at a senior level with partners including the Crown Prosecution Service and regional policing teams to support complex investigations and deliver tangible criminal justice outcomes.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrating sound professional judgement and the ability to make complex, high‑impact decisions within a dynamic operational environment.
- Apply specialist expertise to interpret complex information, balance risk and make timely, proportionate decisions that withstand scrutiny.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in financial investigation and asset recovery, including advanced knowledge of Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) legislation and its operational application.
- Strong leadership capability, with a proven ability to manage, develop and inspire specialist teams in high‑pressure environments.
- Ability to assimilate highly complex operational information and translate it into clear, evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Professional mindset characterised by independent decision‑making, resilience and accountability, with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with organisational priorities.
- Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively across agencies to deliver strategic outcomes and maximise opportunities for asset recovery.
