Residential Deputy Manager
As a residential Deputy Manager at Oldham Local Authority, you will support the Registered Manager in leading a diverse team and delivering high quality care for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Salary: £39,152 – £42,839 per annum (Grade 7); Hours: 36.66 per week.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and understand OFSTED requirements.
- Assist the Registered Manager in managing and supervising residential care staff, fostering continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement and monitor individual care plans for children, ensuring physical, emotional and developmental needs are met.
- Maintain adherence to best practice guidelines and keep the home compliant with all regulations.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and support to the care team to enhance their skills and professional development.
- Effectively manage crisis situations or incidents, ensuring safety for children and staff.
- Collaborate with external agencies, schools, healthcare providers and families to deliver holistic care.
- Oversee administrative duties, including rostering, budgeting and accurate record-keeping.
Key Requirements
- Experience delivering life skills and/or participation programmes to young people in a youth work, social care or health setting.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and young people.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
- NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent; Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care is desirable.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a residential care setting is preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.
- In‑depth understanding of EBD and familiarity with relevant legislation and standards.
- Current enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
