Project Team Manager (PTM)
As a Project Team Manager you will manage and support a high‑performing technical team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards.
Responsibilities
- Line manage a technical team – recruitment, resource planning, onboarding, and inductions.
- Co‑create a learning environment – train, coach and mentor team members.
- Oversee a portfolio of work – plan, deliver, resolve issues and, when needed, escalation.
- Build strong relationships across the department and wider organisation to enable smooth delivery of projects.
- Monitor progress at a project level and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Support project, contract and risk management decisions, ensuring new starters and existing members receive required training.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, geography, business/project management related discipline, ideally with chartered membership.
- Significant experience (over 8 years) in a project, contract and/or people‑management environment, ideally within engineering/construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
- Technical knowledge to lead a team overseeing delivery of hydrology, river modelling, feasibility assessment, and asset management.
- Track record of delivering results through others in a challenging environment.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to create a collaborative environment.
Desirable Skills and Training
- Training in HR/business management.
- Training in project management and health & safety.
- Training in contract strategy/contract management.
- Experience working on the client side for the Environment Agency/Defra/RMA.

Location & Travel
Role requires residence in the South West and co‑location at a base office a minimum of 2 days per week. Travel to other offices and overnight stays may be required.
