Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Manager – Bank Reconciliations to join us here at Liberty Blume in Bradford. This is a 12 month FTC to cover maternity. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Accounts Receivable and Controls, the Senior Manager – Bank Reconciliations (12 month FTC) will lead end‑to‑end reconciliation operations across multiple OpCos within a high‑volume environment. The role is accountable for delivering accurate and timely reconciliations, driving operational excellence through automation and continuous control improvement, and ensuring a robust control framework is maintained. The successful candidate will optimise reconciliation processes, actively manage key stakeholder relationships, and ensure consistent achievement of service delivery KPIs while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive operational excellence across the bank reconciliation function within a high‑volume environment.
- Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations are completed accurately and within agreed timelines, including ownership of month‑end close activities.
- Monitor unreconciled items, ensuring timely investigation, resolution, and appropriate escalation where required.
- Act as the Payment Operations lead for the implementation and optimisation of reconciliation systems and automation tools.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, standardisation, and scalability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal finance teams, treasury, external clients, and auditors.
- Prepare and review reports and dashboards on key metrics, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear insights to support decision‑making.
- Lead, develop, and manage a team (direct and indirect reports), setting clear performance objectives across productivity, quality, and service delivery.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by empowering the team to identify inefficiencies and implement enhancements.
- Ensure full compliance with GAAP, accounting standards, SOX controls, and tax requirements across all team activities.
Essential Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (or qualified by experience).
- Proven leadership and people‑management capability, with experience managing and developing high‑performing teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong stakeholder and client‑management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Process improvement mindset, with a focus on automation and operational efficiency.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong risk awareness, with a focus on maintaining robust controls.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and optimise resource utilisation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a fast‑paced shared service centre environment.
- Experience with finance and procurement systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, APRO).
- Experience leading transformation, migration, or system implementation projects.
