At CrossCountry, we’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects that improve our business, enhance our trains, and deliver a better experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the successful delivery of projects aligned to Department for Transport (DfT) contractual commitments and CrossCountry’s Annual Business Plan.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor project plans, ensuring milestones, actions and deliverables remain on track.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day project activities and ensure actions are clearly assigned, monitored and completed.
  • Prepare and present project updates through governance forums, including project and programme boards.
  • Identify, monitor and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring effective mitigation plans are in place.
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders and support clear, consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate collaboration across project teams, ensuring priorities, progress and next steps are understood.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement across future projects.
  • Lead smaller projects or individual workstreams from initiation through to successful completion.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Experience planning, tracking and reporting project activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving risks and issues.
  • The ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Microsoft Project or similar software would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the railway industry is a plus but not essential.
  • Interest in developing your project management career through recognised qualifications such as PRINCE2 or APM.

Offer

In return, you’ll benefit from working on projects that have a genuine impact on our business and the journeys of millions of customers across the UK. This role offers new challenges, opportunities to learn, and the chance to make a real difference.

Closing date for applications: 13 July 2026.
