Salary: £44,075 – £48,226 (Subject to Job Evaluation)

Interviews: Scheduled to take place w/c 10th August

About the role

As a key delivery role, you will translate GMCA’s ambitious environmental strategies into practical, on‑the‑ground delivery. You will lead high‑profile programmes that support nature recovery, biodiversity net gain (BNG) and integrated water management across Greater Manchester. The role includes developing and delivering complex, multi‑partner projects throughout their full lifecycle, from scope and design to implementation and ongoing operation. A central focus will be leading the mobilisation and delivery of the Greater Manchester Offsite Biodiversity Net Gain Responsible Body Service, taking the service from inception to full implementation, establishing governance, operating models and ensuring effective performance and continuous improvement.

In addition, you will lead the development and delivery of a wider portfolio of programmes that support nature recovery and integrated water management, helping to deliver GMCA’s strategic priorities, including the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

About you

You will be an experienced project or programme manager with a strong track record of delivering complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives. Knowledge or experience of biodiversity, planning, natural capital or environmental delivery would be advantageous.

About the team

You will join a collaborative and ambitious team working to support nature recovery and integrated water management, delivering multiple benefits for residents, communities and the economy. The team works closely with local authorities, government bodies and delivery partners to deliver innovative, large‑scale environmental programmes.

Benefits

In return for your hard work, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority offers a competitive package, including benefits and opportunities for professional development.

Workplace

This role is part of GMCA’s hybrid working scheme. Work can be undertaken from the Manchester city centre office, an allocated local authority office or remotely, typically from home, within a reasonable commutable distance from Greater Manchester.
