Assistant Pathway Administrator

We are seeking to appoint a full time assistant patient pathway administrator to join our friendly team within Surgical Ophthalmology. The post will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in the West Wing.
This post is crucial to the ongoing development of the Ophthalmology service and would suit a candidate who has excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be expected to liaise with staff and colleagues at all levels. You will have proven administration skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload to tight deadlines. You will need to demonstrate initiative and flexibility in your approach and be able to work in a pressurised and busy environment. The successful candidate will also manage each patient’s pathway in a timely and efficient manner.
Knowledge of the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record System (EPR) and knowledge of elective access standards would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

Job responsibilities
- Provide a professional, comprehensive and effective administration support service to the administration, nursing and the wider medical teams.
- Support the administration of the surgical ophthalmology department’s patient pathways.
- Liaise with staff and colleagues at all levels to coordinate patient care and ensure timely management of pathways.
- Prioritise and manage workload to meet tight deadlines in a pressurised and busy environment.
- Demonstrate initiative, flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as within the team.
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Good basic educational qualifications (5 or more GCSEs including English and Maths Grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications
Experience and Skills
- Administration experience
- Competent computer skills
- NHS experience
Specific Aptitude and Abilities
- Ability to plan and coordinate work within area of responsibility
Interpersonal Skills / Communication Skills
- Good level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of interacting with a wide range of people.
