About the Role
As a Legal Assistant, you will assist lawyers in progressing matters efficiently and effectively, liaising with clients and external parties, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with court and procedural deadlines.
The work is varied and challenging and will include matters covering:
- Housing litigation
- Housing disrepair claims
- Rent possession and other housing management cases
- Anti‑social behaviour matters
- Service charge disputes and recovery
- Debt recovery proceedings
- Prosecutions and regulatory enforcement matters
- General civil litigation matters
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience of working within a legal environment
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
- Experience of preparing legal documents and managing case files
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
- Good IT skills and experience of using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- A commitment to providing excellent client care and customer service
Desirable Experience
- Experience of local government legal practice
- Experience of civil litigation, housing litigation, litigating prosecution matters, disrepair claims, debt recovery, service charges or anti‑social behaviour
- Legal qualifications such as CILEX studies, a law degree, LPC/SQE preparation, or equivalent legal experience
