Key Responsibilities
- Act as the contractual lead for allocated projects, managing contracts throughout the project lifecycle
- Administer contracts in accordance with the relevant contractual principles
- Support the commercial function with commercial control of projects
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial and contractual risks and opportunities
- Ensure all contractual communications are timely, accurate, and compliant
- Establish and maintain robust project controls, reporting, and governance arrangements
- Review and challenge programmes, cost plans, and subcontractor submissions
- Ensure compliance with project scope, contractual requirements, and client expectations
- Prepare regular project reports covering commercial status, risk, programme, and performance
- Provide contractual and commercial oversight of on-site construction activities
- Work closely with construction managers, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure delivery aligns with contractual and programme commitments
- Ensure variations, delays, and change are identified early and managed in line with contract provisions
- Assure quality, progress, and compliance without duplicating site management functions
- Provide cover for Construction managers when required
- Ensure projects comply with statutory obligations, security protocols, and internal policies
- Oversee compliance with defence, government, and secure-environment requirements
- Ensure contractor compliance with RAMS, permits, and security procedures
- Support audits, inspections, and client assurance activities
- Support the H&S function in audits and compliance activities
- Act as a key commercial and contractual interface with clients, consultants, and framework partners
- Manage subcontractor and supplier relationships from a contractual and performance perspective
- Support dispute avoidance through early engagement, accurate records, and contract-aligned decision-making
Knowledge, skills and qualifications
Essential
- Strong background in contracts or commercial management within the construction industry
- Demonstrable experience administering NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
- Solid understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and delivery risks
- Eligible for, or holding, UK Security Clearance
- Proficiency in SharePoint and business systems
- Proficient in project and document management systems
- Commercially astute with strong contractual judgement
- Confident managing change, risk, and complex stakeholder environments
- Clear, structured communicator with strong written contractual skills
- Ability to operate autonomously across multiple UK projects
- Is analytical, organised, and detail-focused
Desirables
- Have a degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or similar
- Experience working in secure, regulated, or government environments
Salary
£60,000 to £75,000 DOE
