Job Description:

We have an opportunity for a Lead Project Engineer to join our expanding UK team on a permanent staff basis, located in our Aberdeen office. This includes studies, tenders and projects in the Offshore Energy market both local to the UK and on behalf DeepOcean’s other global offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The role is a staff position based in Deepocean’s offices in Aberdeen and will support projects throughout Deepocean’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
  • Ensure that all engineering meets the requirements of all appropriate codes, regulations and standards.
  • Lead the procedural development for complex subsea operations.
  • Oversee, mentor and support more junior team members in the development of engineering documentation.
  • Interface with discipline engineering departments and oversee the key project subcontractor delivery.
  • Liaise with Project Manager and/or Project Technical Manager on deviations to engineering and contractual principles.
  • Participate in offshore execution as required (estimated 30 days per year).
  • Perform engineering tasks according to the Engineering Procedure and in a safe and accurate manner.
  • Oversee design/fabrication of tools/structures.
  • Liaise with HSEQS to ensure all project specific HSEQS requirements are met.
  • Provide technical input to commercial and tendering team as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • Higher Education Degree/Master/Bachelor (or equivalent) in relevant engineering or science subject or extensive and company assessed experience within actual area.
  • A minimum of 9 years relevant experience in industry related role.
  • Ability to lead, support, develop and inspire engineers at all levels.
  • Experience in the delivery of a broad range of subsea construction / decommissioning projects, from tender phase through to offshore execution.
  • Experienced in managing subcontractors to deliver complex subsea work scopes.
  • Direct experience working for a subsea vessel contractor is preferable.
  • Experience in planning and managing the delivery of fabrication of temporary and / or permanent subsea structures or installation aids is preferable.
  • Planning and execution of marine operations according to industry standards.
  • Experience in working offshore for ROV and subsea operations.
  • Experience in working across multiple global regions is an advantage.
