We are working with a growing mechanical contractor who is looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee a range of commercial projects across East London and surrounding areas.

This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys running multiple projects, keeping tight control of programme and costs, and being trusted to manage work from pre-start through to completion.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing mechanical building services projects typically ranging from £50,000 to £2 million in value. Projects will be mainly commercial, covering works such as offices, schools, healthcare, leisure, retail, and similar environments.

You will be client-facing, commercially aware, and able to coordinate labour, subcontractors, suppliers, design information, procurement, and programme delivery.

Duties

  • Managing mechanical projects from handover through to completion
  • Overseeing projects valued from £50k to £2m
  • Managing site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist trades
  • Attending client, contractor, and site meetings
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, programmes, and project documentation
  • Procuring materials and managing supplier relationships
  • Monitoring costs, variations, margins, and project profitability
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required standard
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal teamsProducing progress updates and reporting back to senior management
  • Supporting commissioning, handover, O&M information, and project close-out

Requirements

  • Mechanical building services background
  • Experience managing commercial mechanical projects
  • Comfortable running projects from around £50k up to £2m
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical services including pipework, plantrooms, ventilation, heating, chilled water, public health, and associated systems
  • Able to manage labour, subcontractors, procurement, programme, and cost control
  • Commercially aware with experience managing variations and project margins
  • Confident dealing directly with clients, main contractors, and consultants
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Based within reasonable travel distance of East London

This role would suit an experienced Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Contracts Manager, or a strong Mechanical Site Manager / Mechanical Supervisor ready to step into a more project-led role.
