We have an exciting new opportunity to join our world-renowned client as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician on a full time, permanent basis. This company offers a state of the art purpose built premises that provides a modern and clean working environment with progression opportunities in the future. They have huge expansion plans for 2026 and into 2027.
Reporting into the Facilities Managers you will be a time-served apprentice or equivalent with hands‑on experience gained within a mid to heavy industrial environment; steel, foundry, aerospace or similar industrial sectors. This role is not suited to candidates whose experience is limited to logistics, warehousing, or distribution environments. We are looking for individuals with broad mechanical engineering expertise across complex industrial plant and equipment.
Your duties within the role of Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be to:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, and reactive breakdown repairs on a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating machinery, and associated drive systems.
- Maximise equipment reliability and uptime across critical manufacturing operations, including:
- Heat treatment furnaces
- Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) furnaces
- Induction Skull Melting (ISM) furnaces
- Air Melt Induction Furnaces
- Support the installation, commissioning, alignment, modification, and upgrade of new and existing equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the site’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and site‑specific standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities focused on reliability, downtime reduction, energy efficiency, and equipment performance.
- Undertake installation, refurbishment, site improvement, and capital project work as required.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of mechanical systems, including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pipework, conveyors, and associated mechanical assemblies.
We would expect the successful Mechanical Maintenance Technician to be able to demonstrate previous experience within a similar role within an engineering or manufacturing environment, and would have the following:
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills across mechanical plant and equipment.
- Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and mechanical drive systems.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Flexibility to work overtime when required.
