The role

As a Lead Software Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the entire software development lifecycle and for design, planning, execution and assuring suitability of the New Management System (NMS), in accordance with the project delivery lifecycle. The system provides the management platform to operate satellites for Britain’s global communication for Government services. Working closely alongside the Software Architect and Lead Software Engineer to deliver software systems to tight timescales across multiple phases of the project.

The Lead Software Test Engineer will manage a team of Software Engineering resources to help deliver each work package on time.

  • Working in an Agile software team to create and review Test Plans and Test Scripts for User Stories, Business Requirements or System Requirements.
  • Assist defining test process for delivering the system.
  • Define appropriate tooling for use while testing the system.
  • Contribute to the team activities, including hands‑on execution of testing, both manual and automated; ensuring repeatable and verifiable test records.
  • Document and define guidelines (e.g., Software Delivery Plan) for delivering the system.
  • Designing the product, updates and improvements.
  • Analyze data and track metrics to ensure that the solution is performing well.

Essential experience

  • Hands-on experience with C#.
  • Experience leading a team of any size.
