Role Overview
We are looking for a Cancer CARE Worker to provide independent advocacy, decision‑making support, and peer network development for people living with cancer and their unpaid carers across Fife. The role is positioned at a higher level of autonomy and complexity, involving one‑to‑one clinical liaison, co‑facilitation with NHS teams, professional training delivery, and leadership of a lived experience co‑design process.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one‑to‑one clinical liaison with oncology teams and carers.
- Co‑facilitate meetings and activities with NHS teams to improve communication and treatment decision participation.
- Deliver professional training sessions to support carers and patients in managing their condition.
- Lead a co‑design process with lived experience participants to develop peer networks and resources.
- Advocate for carers’ legal rights under the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 and support needs assessment.
- Provide crisis support to carers when needed, ensuring they experience confidence and respect in their care.
- Maintain professional relationships with oncology teams and coordinate post‑appointment follow‑up.
Requirements
- Full driving licence and reliable vehicle access.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills.
- Experience working with people living with cancer and their carers.
- Ability to manage complex, autonomous tasks and lead co‑design work.
- Welcomed are applicants with lived experience of cancer, caring or from culturally diverse communities facing barriers to care.
