The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering provides comprehensive turn‑key services for London’s state‑of‑the‑art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi‑year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works. The BIM Modeller plays a critical role within the Engineering Directorate, focusing on the production and coordination of high‑quality 3D CAD models with embedded data.
Job Description
As a CAD Technician you will implement digital deliverables, ensuring all outputs are produced to a high standard in accordance with project requirements. You will support the engineering teams in 2D, 3D or BIM Level 2 commissions, providing capabilities across light, heavy and metro rail systems and working alongside signalling and track teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop engineering designs using best practice details and bespoke solutions.
- Contribute to the CAD best practice library.
- Provide BIM Level 2 support from documentation creation to validation and As Built Close Out.
- Manage 3D CAD models and contribute in your specialised discipline.
- Assist in the delivery and management of projects from technical design to construction to ensure compliance and standards.
- Implement best practice and consistent processes, liaising with project stakeholders and the supply chain.
- Ensure quality processes and standards of all drawing deliverables.
- Utilise Bentley ProjectWise, OpenBuilding Designer and MicroStation for detailed drawing creation and documentation, ensuring full coordination.
- Liaise with discipline task teams to ensure output is fully coordinated.
- Lead the production of high‑quality design and detailed construction drawings for specific elements of railway station projects, ensuring integration with overall project information models.
- Produce drawing output from 3D model information in line with the Component Catalogue and outline information within the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
- Submit drawings that meet project requirements.
- Support and liaise with the BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager and wider project joint venture team to implement deliverables and facilitate issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate and timely information flow and adhere to data‑management standards.
- Participate in quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, detail and employer information requirements.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with the BEP and supporting project standards, contributing to regular reports on BIM deliverable status.
- Work closely with other disciplines, attending regular coordination meetings as necessary.
Qualifications
- BIM Technician with at least 3 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
- Experience working in an engineering production environment.
- Railway, transportation or construction background.
- Experience delivering projects to UK BIM Standards including BS1192 and ISO 19650.
- Proficient in using Bentley software including ProjectWise, OpenBuilding Designer and MicroStation.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the technical development of 3D CAD components from conceptual design through to detailed construction models.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to cohesive integrated project deliverables.
- Good knowledge of UK design standards such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL.
- Experience working with BEPs, Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP), Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP) and Model Production Delivery Tables (MPDT).
- Ability to adapt to new BIM technologies and workflows, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
