Job Description:

There are residential developer roles where you're responsible for coordinating drawings and managing consultants.

Then there are roles where you genuinely influence the quality of the homes and places being created.

This is one of those opportunities.

A well established, highly respected housebuilder is looking to appoint an Architectural Manager to join its Glasgow office. Working as part of an experienced technical and design team, you'll play a key role in taking developments from planning through to delivery, ensuring designs remain commercially viable, technically robust and true to the original vision.

The business has an excellent reputation for delivering high quality private housing across the West of Scotland, combining traditional family homes with bespoke flatted developments and regeneration projects. Design quality genuinely matters here, and you'll be working alongside people who take pride in creating places that stand the test of time.

This isn't a role where you'll be sat producing drawing packages all day. Instead, you'll be coordinating external architectural practices, consultants and internal stakeholders, ensuring information is delivered accurately and on programme while resolving technical challenges before they become site issues. You'll work closely with the Land, Planning, Commercial, Construction and Sales teams, becoming a central figure in the successful delivery of multiple live developments.

You'll review architectural information, oversee consultant performance, manage design changes, support planning applications and building warrant submissions, and ensure developments comply with current regulations, company standards and programme requirements. As projects progress onto site, you'll continue working alongside construction teams to provide technical guidance and resolve design queries efficiently.

The role would suit someone coming from either an architectural practice or another residential developer. Perhaps you're a Senior Architect, Associate or experienced Architectural Technologist with a strong background in residential projects who's looking to move client side. Equally, you may already be working within a developer and be looking for a business that delivers high quality projects with a collaborative, supportive culture.

Residential experience will be essential, along with a strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning processes and the technical coordination required to deliver successful housing developments. You'll be someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and managing multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the detail.

What really sets this opportunity apart is the environment. The team is well established, knowledgeable and genuinely supportive. Decisions are made collaboratively, communication is open, and people are trusted to take ownership of their work. You'll have the opportunity to broaden your experience across a varied portfolio while working for a business that continues to invest in both its developments and its people.

In return, you'll receive a competitive salary of up to around £55,000 – £65,000 depending on experience, alongside an excellent benefits package and genuine long term career prospects within one of Scotland's most respected residential development businesses.

If you've been thinking about making the move from practice into development, or you're already client side and looking for your next challenge, this could be exactly the opportunity you've been waiting for.
