Job details

Salary: £32,061 – £33,699 basic plus 4 hours weekly contracted overtime = £37,260 – £39,163 plus £1,850 market supplement.

Contractual hours: 41 Basis Fixed Hours.

About the role

An HGV Driver is needed to drive Waste Collection vehicles for Brighton & Hove City Council. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team at Environmental Services to ensure our communities receive a great service and make a real difference in the city.

The role involves:

  • Leading and supervising a small team of Operatives, ensuring they complete their tasks and that health and safety regulations are adhered to during refuse and recycling collection.
  • Undertaking daily vehicle inspections and providing customer‑focused service to remove household, recycling and other designated waste from a variety of locations.
  • Maintaining respectful working relationships and communicating with politeness and courtesy with colleagues and members of the public.
  • Ensuring all relevant council policies, procedures, values and behaviours are understood and followed.

We are looking to fill 4 vacancies.

Requirements

  • HGV C Category Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid CPC card and Tacho Card.
  • Management/supervising or relevant experience.
