Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and positive individual to contribute to the delivery of a national programme of inspections of healthcare within justice settings, working collaboratively with HM Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland (HMIPS) and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS) to provide assurance and support continuous improvement in the quality of care across Scotland. This post is based within the Healthcare within Justice team, part of the Quality Assurance and Regulation Directorate (QARD).
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the planning and delivery of inspections and reviews across a range of justice settings.
- Communicate complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious information clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
- Build constructive working relationships with providers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Relevant clinical qualification, specifically in mental health (e.g., Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or an Allied Health Professional such as an Occupational Therapist), and educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Experience in prison and/or police custody settings, with a strong background in mental health and/or supporting people affected by substance use, and a clear understanding of the complex needs of individuals in these environments.
- Ability to undertake mandatory Personal Protection Training (PPT) as this is an essential requirement of the role.
