Job Description:

Go-Ahead Group is a leading international public transport operator providing bus and rail services across the UK and internationally. We play an important role in connecting communities and helping people travel safely and sustainably every day.

About the Role

Go-Ahead Group is seeking a high-calibre FP&A Transformation Analyst to join our Transformation team in London. This role sits at the intersection of finance and programme delivery — tracking and validating cost‑saving initiatives across the Group’s transformation portfolio. You will build bottom‑up financial models, ensure reported savings are evidenced and tracked through to the P&L, and partner closely with initiative owners, OpCo finance teams and senior stakeholders to deliver credible, data‑driven insights that support decision‑making and programme success. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to combine strong financial analytical skills with high‑impact transformation work at Group level.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to track transformation initiatives and quantify savings; develop clear methodologies to bridge modelled savings to actual P&L performance.
  • Track both in‑year and run‑rate savings, ensuring alignment to budget and long‑term plans; support the production of transformation dashboards and reporting packs for senior stakeholders.
  • Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior expectations, clearly articulating key drivers; analyse operational and financial data to identify risks, opportunities and performance improvements.
  • Support individual transformation initiatives by providing analytical insight and financial rigour; help structure and assess business cases including validation of assumptions and financial benefits.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
  • Support the development and consolidation of budgets and forecasts relating to transformation initiatives; ensure outputs are fully reconciled to Group financial plans and consistent with underlying assumptions; develop KPI tracking to monitor initiative delivery and impact.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Partner with initiative leads, OpCo finance teams and central functions to ensure alignment and clarity; provide clear, structured outputs for senior leadership including board‑level materials; challenge assumptions constructively to improve the quality of financial submissions and decisions.
  • Process Improvement & Governance
  • Support the development of standardised tools, templates and processes for transformation tracking; improve data quality, controls and auditability of reported savings; drive continuous improvement in reporting, modelling and forecasting approaches.

Qualifications

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with relevant finance or FP&A experience; strong financial modelling skills and advanced Excel proficiency.

Required Skills

  • Excellent analytical capability with strong attention to detail; ability to translate complex operational activity into clear financial insight.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable engaging with senior leadership and presenting board‑level materials.
  • Experience in a transformation, programme finance or FP&A environment desirable; familiarity with large, complex group structures and OpCo finance teams an advantage.
  • High level of accountability and integrity; resilient and adaptable, motivated by solving complex problems in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Highly motivated and proactive, with a strong problem‑solving mindset and a genuine interest in transformation and change.
  • Detail‑oriented and rigorous, whilst able to see the bigger picture and communicate it clearly.
  • Collaborative and trusted — able to build relationships quickly across finance and non‑finance teams alike.
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a small, high‑impact team where your work will be visible and valued.

If you don’t meet every requirement but feel this role could be right for you, we still encourage you to apply.

Pay range and compensation package

  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme for wellbeing, financial, and emotional support.
  • Flexible working to balance your needs (reduced hours applications will be considered, however 5 days in the office is a requirement).
  • 25 days holiday, pension, life Assurance travel pass, buy and sell holiday up to 5 days, Discount platform.
