Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and knowledgeable Senior Science Technician to support the delivery of outstanding practical science education while leading and developing technical support services. In this varied and hands‑on role, you will be responsible for coordinating the preparation and distribution of equipment and materials for practical lessons, ensuring all experiments are set up, tested, and ready to use. You will work closely with teaching staff to support high‑quality learning, assist with demonstrations, and help develop innovative practical resources. You will also oversee laboratories, preparation rooms, and stock, ensuring equipment is maintained, safely stored, and fully compliant with health and safety standards. As a senior team member, you will play a key leadership role by supporting and guiding other technicians, managing day‑to‑day technical operations, and acting as a point of expertise for staff. You may deputise for the Lead Science Technician, contribute to budget monitoring, support early career teachers with practical work, and help coordinate educational visits. You will also take an active role in promoting a strong health and safety culture, including responding to incidents, supporting audits, and deputising as a Health and Safety representative when required. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and motivate others are essential, along with proven experience in a laboratory or educational setting. As part of this role, you will be required to undertake first‑aid training and provide first‑aid support to students as needed.
