Who can apply
We’re looking for experienced senior nursing leaders with:
- Current NMC registration (Mental Health, Learning Disability or Adult Nursing)
- Significant senior leadership experience within mental health or related services
- Master’s level education or equivalent senior leadership experience
- Expertise in quality improvement, governance and patient safety
- A proven ability to lead change, influence teams and develop strategic vision
You’ll be passionate about developing people, improving services and delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
The role
As Head of Nursing & Quality, you will provide visible, credible and influential leadership across a designated specialist portfolio while working closely with the Divisional Director of Nursing & Quality.
- Provide strategic professional leadership for nursing services
- Lead quality, governance, safety and CQC assurance activity
- Drive continuous improvement using data, learning and patient feedback
- Champion patient experience and person-centred care
- Shape workforce planning, career pathways and nursing development
- Support safer staffing and risk management across services
- Lead professional regulation, supervision and revalidation
- Deputise for the Divisional Director of Nursing & Quality when required
This is a role that combines strategic leadership with a strong connection to frontline services and clinical practice.
About the division
We are recruiting two Head of Nursing & Quality posts within the Specialist Division.
CAMHS, Learning Disability & Neurodevelopmental Services
- Community CAMHS teams
- Acute CAMHS pathway, including our new inpatient unit opening this autumn
- Learning Disability and Neurodiversity services
Forensics, Early Intervention in Psychosis & Perinatal Services
- Specialist forensic services
- Early Intervention in Psychosis teams
Both portfolios offer the opportunity to lead highly skilled multidisciplinary teams delivering specialist care across Sussex.
Location
Based within the Specialist Division in Worthing, with regular presence across services throughout Sussex.
Monday to Friday, 9–5 with a small on-call commitment.
