Emergency Dispatch Quality Specialist (INTERNAL)

Job Summary

As an Emergency Dispatch Quality Specialist you will carry out case reviews on emergency and urgent calls taken within the Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs) using IAED Performance Standards and in line with the SWAST EMD Quality Assurance and Improvement Policy.

You will provide feedback to Emergency Medical Dispatches (EMDs) on the outcomes of case reviews, celebrating best practice and identifying learning opportunities. You will present trends and scores during quarterly Quality Support Sessions and support EMDs through face‑to‑face meetings, MS Teams and email.

The role may also require you to undertake a full range of EMD duties when operational demands of the EOC require it.

Main Duties

  • Complete case reviews of Emergency and Urgent telephone calls taken and/or made by EMDs within the EOCs.
  • Support all EMDs, including trainee EMDs, in line with EMD Team Leaders and EMD Quality and Professional Development Leads.
  • Identify individual EMD training and development needs through performance monitoring and assist in developing wider themes and trends.
  • Provide strength‑based written and verbal feedback to individual EMDs based on case reviews.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of case review outcomes and maintain department files and databases in line with policy.
  • Assist EMD Quality and Professional Development Leads by providing training and support aimed at improving EMD practice.

Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSE in Maths and English, Grade C or equivalent.
  • Current EMD certification.
  • Current EMD‑Q certification or willingness to undertake and achieve and maintain the qualification.
  • Experience as a certified EMD with excellent case review compliance.
  • Evidence of competence and credibility as an EMD through current practice.
  • Previous employment within an MPDS accredited emergency operations centre.

Desirable

  • Mentor, Training or other relevant qualification.
  • Recent experience as a certified EMD‑Q.
