Job Overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Project Manager within its Transformation Team. The role supports the Trust’s strategic improvement programmes, leading projects that enhance patient care and modernise services across clinical and non‑clinical areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver transformation and service improvement projects across the Trust.
- Use project‑management and quality‑improvement methodologies to drive measurable results.
- Analyse complex data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Influence and support teams to adopt new ways of working and embed sustainable change.
- Manage project delivery against agreed timescales, outcomes and financial targets.
- Coach and develop colleagues in improvement tools, techniques and change management.
- Support Trust‑wide training, facilitation and improvement events.
- Act as a visible champion for continuous improvement and patient‑centred care.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
- First degree or equivalent experience/diplomas.
- Detailed knowledge and application of a recognised service improvement technique or relevant experience at Masters level or equivalent.
- Evidence of further training, study or leadership courses.
- Proven track record in project management.
- Project or change‑management training.
- Facilitation of multi‑professional groups.
- Presenting and communicating to care groups and divisions.
- Experience at a senior level in industry or healthcare sector.
- Literate, with experience of report writing.
- Evidence of leading and implementing change, influencing behaviour and collaborating with others.
- Strong structured project‑management skills and experience.
- Analytical ability to interpret complex information and develop practical solutions.
- Capacity to lead project teams and achieve agreed goals in dynamic environments.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in a quality or service improvement environment.
- Coaching experience or qualification.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience of action learning sets.
- Association with QSIR college.
- Knowledge of multiple improvement methodologies.
