Position Overview

Team Administrative Assistant / Receptionist Apprentice – Hywel Dda University Health Board, Carmarthen, WLS, GB. Full‑time, on‑site role within the Workforce and Organisational Development Directorate. This apprenticeship provides a first step toward a career in NHS administrative services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide reception support: greet visitors, answer telephone calls (bilingual), escort guests and ensure security procedures are followed.
  • Sort, distribute and file incoming mail and deliveries.
  • Support scheduling by updating calendars, arranging meetings and setting up meeting rooms with audio‑visual equipment.
  • Administer desk and room booking systems, including adding/removing users.
  • Manage access fobs for new starters and retrieve fobs from leavers.
  • Provide general administrative support: typing, photocopying, scanning, printing.
  • Maintain stationery supplies and place orders as needed.
  • Act as designated Fire Marshal and First Aider (training provided).
  • Support Senior Leadership Team (SLT) administration as required.

Entry Requirements

  • Aged 16 years or older in September2026.
  • Right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK for 3 years.
  • Commitment to study and work simultaneously, requiring a high level of dedication.
  • Must not be in any formal government‑funded education at the time of starting the apprenticeship.
  • Standard eligibility criteria for foundation apprenticeship; individuals with a degree qualification are not eligible.

Learning & Development

The role offers structured apprenticeship training, mentorship from the Workplace Mentor and College Tutors, and support from the Apprenticeship Academy team. Progress is reviewed formally every three months, with salary progression linked to competency attainment.
