Job Title: Care Worker – Children with Complex Needs

We have full and part‑time positions available to support our 15‑year‑old son who is a full‑time wheelchair user with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and complex epilepsy.

Shift Patterns

  • Waking Nights (Term Time): Monday 22:00‑07:30, Wednesday 22:00‑07:30, Thursday 22:00‑07:30, Friday 22:30‑08:30 – 38.5 hours per week.
  • Waking Nights (School Holidays): Monday‑Friday 22:30‑08:30 – 50 hours per week.
  • Weekdays (Term Time): Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 16:30‑20:30 – 12–20 hours per week (one carer each shift).
  • Weekends (Term Time): One carer, two eight‑hour shifts per month – 12–20 hours per week.
  • Weekdays & Weekends (School Holidays): Weekdays at least two 8‑hour shifts per week, weekends one carer two 8‑hour shifts per month – 16–24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Complex moving and handling, including hoisting and safe positioning.
  • Use of wheelchair and specialist equipment.
  • Personal care: hygiene, oral care, continence care and pad changes.
  • PEG feeding and hydration management according to care plans.
  • Monitoring seizure activity and following the epilepsy care plan.
  • Pain monitoring and comfort measures.
  • Skin integrity management, repositioning and pressure care.
  • Medication administration.

Additional Tasks by Parents

  • Administration of rescue epilepsy medication.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience with carers for children with disabilities; training will be provided.
  • Positive, bubbly and compassionate personality; good communication with young people.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working waking nights preferred.

Rates of Pay

Monday to Sunday days: £16.00 per hour.Monday to Sunday waking nights: £18.00 per hour.
