Main duties of the job
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our patient flow co-ordinator team in AMU, medicine, and medicine for older people.
The candidate will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing emergency patient flow, ensuring that patients experience a co-ordinated and streamlined journey through the department, by supporting patient flow and preventing unnecessary delays.
Job responsibilities
The role involves proactively managing the emergency patient flow from arrival to departure. This role is within a seven day service, working 12.5 hour shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
We are looking for someone with strong communication skills who is able to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment. This person will be used to working within a multidisciplinary team and can work autonomously, escalating appropriately where needed.

Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
- Literacy & numeracy skills to GCSE (or equivalent) level
- Educated to NVQ3/Diploma standard or equivalent qualification level or relevant work-based experience.
- Competent using a variety of IT tools including but not limited to eCamis, Symphony, Whiteboard Site View, MS Teams and MS office
- Ability and willingness to learn new IT processes and systems
- Ability and willingness to undertake on the job training
- To demonstrate ability to develop and refine new processes to improve current systems
- Aware of challenges which will affect patient flow within a ward or clinical unit
- Empathetic approach to managing and resolving enquiries
- Courses / further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Develop systems to ensure efficient records are maintained for flow analysis
- Proficient in the use of all hospital computerised patient systems
- Ability to process and analyse reports
