Research Scientist – Bioperformance

Location: Bracknell, UK

Contract: 24 Months

Rate: £17.74 per hour

The Role

We are looking for a Research Scientist – Bioperformance to join a leading agricultural research environment. This role sits within the Bioscience function and focuses on understanding the behaviour of active ingredients (AIs) in plants, supporting product development and performance evaluation.

You will contribute to innovative research exploring ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Elimination) processes, helping to drive advancements in crop protection and sustainable agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Conduct in vivo (whole plant) and ex vivo studies to assess bioavailability of agrochemicals
  • Design, plan, execute, and analyse experiments independently
  • Investigate interactions between active ingredients and plant systems
  • Interpret data and present findings through reports and presentations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Review and improve scientific methodologies and protocols
  • Support capability development and knowledge sharing within the team

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • BSc or MSc (preferred) in Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Soil Science, or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years’ laboratory-based research experience
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage experiments and deliver results within timelines
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in agronomy, crop protection, pharmacology, or analytical chemistry
  • Knowledge of ADME studies
  • Experience with LC-MS or small molecule analysis
  • Ability to handle and analyse large datasets
  • Understanding of plant physiology and crop health
