Job Description:

This major water sector utilities contractor is looking to appoint a Contracts Manager to lead delivery on a range of waste water projects in Devon & Cornwall. You will deputise for the Contracts Director and oversea a number of experienced Project Managers who in turn are responsible for delivering schemes ranging in value from £5M to £10M on the South West Water framework, based from offices on the outskirts of Exeter.

As Contracts Manager you will manage in-house and subcontract delivery teams to make sure schemes are delivered safely, on time, to specification and within budget, while maintaining excellent customer and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the divisions end-to-end delivery of wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Support PM’s plan and programme works, monitor progress and provide accurate updates, forecasts and reports to the client and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversea divisional project financials working closely with the Regional Framework Lead.

What you need

  • Experience in an operational management or contracts manager position working in projects in utilities, ideally wastewater or wider water networks/civils.
  • Strong project and management skills with a track record of delivering programmes to time, cost and quality.
  • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements; relevant qualification is an advantage.
  • Financial and commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets and P&L performance.
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder and subcontractor management skills.
  • Good IT skills (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, project reporting systems).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the region.
