VMS Fleet Compliance Officer

Are you passionate about ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence in fleet management? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated VMS Fleet Compliance Officer to join our Vehicle Maintenance Service (VMS). This is a pivotal role focused on maintaining legal fleet compliance, auditing operational processes, and driving continuous improvement across our vehicle management services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legal and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, tax, licensing, and inspections.
- Audit driver compliance including CPC, licensing, tacho use, and safety standards.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to track operational performance.
- Deliver targeted training sessions on compliance standards and procedures.
- Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and update policies accordingly.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant qualifications in auditing, transport management, or compliance (e.g., CPC).
- Proven experience in fleet compliance, auditing, or similar roles.
- Experience conducting operational audits and reporting findings.
- Have a UK driving licence.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and monitor KPIs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in auditing and performance monitoring tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
