Mechanical Machine Fitter

We are looking for a highly experienced Mechanical Fitter to assemble and build bespoke machinery, working independently from build sheets and technical assembly drawings for a long‑established UK machinery manufacturer.

Compensation: up to £42,000 per annum, plus benefits including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, early finish on Fridays (1:30 pm), annual bonus opportunity, family friendly policies, pension, overtime pay and further opportunities for career progression.

Skills & Experience

• HNC/NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• Proven experience in the build and assembly of bespoke, special‑purpose machinery
• Capable of working independently from build sheets and technical assembly diagrams
• Solid working knowledge of welding, fabrication and machining principles
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, bearings, gearboxes, chains, pulleys, conveyor belts, motors etc.
• Excellent attention to detail

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical products and components in accordance with drawings, specifications and build procedures.
• Use build sheets to ensure times and processes of build are adhered to, making notes as required.
• Raise Engineering Change Reports (ECRs) to refine and help improve product and streamline processes.
• Perform modifications in conjunction with the mechanical design team to facilitate the customer’s requirements.
• Ensure complete machine builds are delivered within project deadlines.
• Adhere to strict Health & Safety standards and company work policies at all times.
• Liaise with the machining team to request modification of precision machine components.
