HGV Class 1 Driver

This position is for an HGV Class 1 Driver based in Aldermaston, working full-time for a leading security logistics firm. The role offers a yearly salary of £43,000, supplemented by a nights out allowance, with overtime also accessible.

Responsibilities

• Securely load, transport and deliver specialised freight, namely Dangerous Goods (UN Hazardous Classes 1‑9 including explosives and radioactive material), sensitive and prohibited items to client sites in accordance with ADR legislation.
• Work a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, weekends, overnight stays, early starts and late finishes, often at short notice.
• Operate vehicles across the UK and Europe.
• Maintain proper handling procedures for specialised freight.
• Work as part of a double‑manned crew and uphold a strong customer service ethos.
• Undergo security vetting.

Qualifications

• Valid clean HGV C/E license held for at least 2 years.
• ADR 1‑9 certification (mandatory, full training provided).
• Proven experience as a commercial driver.
• Familiarity with flatbed driving.
• Ability to prioritise safety and security while on the road.
• Physically fit, capable of loading and unloading vehicles.
• Team player, as much of the work is double‑manned.
